Women and Razor Bumps

Many women love the touch of freshly-shaven legs or underarms. Unfortunately, with routine shaving often comes painful and unsightly ingrown hairs and razor bumps. Here are a few remedies to try to avoid and if necessary, treat razor bumps:

  • Never use dull or dirty razor blades as it can lead to small patches of red spots. It’s recommended to throw away razors after five uses.
  • Exfoliate at least weekly to prevent ingrown hairs and help lift the hair out of the skin.
  • Use essential oils, such as tea tree oil, to alleviate irritated skin post shaving.
  • Always shave with a cream or soap.
  • If you do develop razor bumps, avoid picking at them as it could prolong the healing process.

At some point, most women will experience razor bumps. Fortunately, there are many ways to protect yourself from this common condition.
